The Mechanical Engineering Technology - Robotics and Automation (Optional Co-op) program at Conestoga College is a comprehensive, three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program. This program equips students with a wide range of mechanical engineering technology skills, preparing them for diverse career opportunities in the dynamic and complex industry of robotics and automation. The curriculum emphasizes mechanical design, automation systems, and robotic applications, using standard procedures, 3D CAD, and computer-based analysis and simulation. Students also study manufacturing processes and materials to understand the integration between design and manufacturing.
 

Career Opportunities: 

Automation Engineer: They design, program, simulate and test automated machinery and processes.

Robotics Engineer: They are responsible for designing, testing, and applying robots and robotic systems.

Controls Engineer: They design and manage control systems and machinery used in industrial automation.

Research and Development: They work on innovating, developing, and enhancing products and procedures to improve technological capabilities in the field of robotics and automation.

Admissions Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or be 19 years of age or older with mature student status.

• Grade 12 compulsory English, C or U, or equivalent, OR have completed Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1251).

• Grade 12 Mathematics, C or U, or equivalent, OR have completed Conestoga College Preparatory Mathematics for Technology & Apprenticeship (MATH1385).

• The minimum grade required for MCT4C is 55%, for MAP4C is 80%, for MHF4U and MCV4U is 55%, for MDM4U is 70%, and for MATH1385 is 55%.

• MCT4C is strongly recommended for this program.

• While not mandatory, having Grade 11 or 12 Physics or Science or Conestoga College Preparatory Physics is desirable. Experience in technical shops/labs, technical drafting, electricity, and electronics can also be beneficial for this program.
