The Civil Engineering Technology (Optional Co-op) program at Conestoga College is a full-time, three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program with an optional co-op. It is designed for students who are interested in the field of civil engineering. The program provides students with a balanced education in civil engineering theory, combined with practical work in laboratories and in the field.
Career Opportunities:
- Civil Engineering Technologist: They assist in the design and construction of buildings, bridges, highways, streets, parks, subdivisions, dams, drainage and water supply systems, sewer systems, and plants.
- Construction Project Manager: They plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities of a construction project under the direction of a general manager or other senior manager.
- Building Inspector: They inspect the construction of buildings and building systems to ensure compliance with building codes and standards.
- Site Engineer: They plan and coordinate the technical aspects of construction projects, solving technical problems, checking drawings and quantities and ensuring the accuracy of calculations.
An Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent (assessed to Ontario standards), or 19 years of age or older with mature student status.
- English Requirement: Grade 12 compulsory English, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1250).
- Mathematics Requirement: Grade 12 Mathematics, C or U (MCT4C or MHF4U or MCV4U or MDM4U), or equivalent, or Conestoga College Preparatory Mathematics for Technology & Apprenticeship (MATH1385).
- Minimum Grade Requirements: MCT4C: 65% MHF4U, MCV4U: 55% MDM4U: 70% MATH1385: 65%
- Additional Requirements: Grade 11 or 12 Physics or Science or Conestoga College Preparatory Physics and technical drafting are desirable but not mandatory.
Please note that applicants with MAP4C will not be considered for admission to this program. They may be considered after writing the Conestoga College Math Pre-Admissions test. Minimum grade cut-offs apply. Applicants with MAP4C may be given an alternate offer to the one-year Technology Foundations program which serves as a preparatory pathway into this program.
If a student does not meet the math admission requirements, they may arrange for testing to assess their mathematical ability.
